Names

Tyler is in the stage of talking where if you pay close attention you know most of what he says, but sometimes you kind of have to know his language to understand. It makes it very cute and many times funny.

For a while he's been calling Shawn "Naw", and since Luke has been born he has been "Yuke". But he never said Kayla's name. Whenever I would point to her in person or in a picture he would just skip over her and point to someone else. I think he just couldn't figure out how to say it. Then one day, about a month ago, he was trying to get Kayla's attention saying, "Dow. Dow!" I wondered if this was his name for her, so I brought him a picture and started asking everyone's name. I got to Kayla, pointed to her and he said, "Dow."

I'm not sure how "Dow" sounds like Kayla, but it works for him. And we laugh and smile every time.

Little Superhero

Tyler is in to superheroes lately. Mainly superman, spider man, and batman. He also considers the kids on the show Super Why to be superheroes. He will randomly get in a superhero pose, stick his hand in the air and say:

"Mummy ya! Wes-you! Why!"  In other words, "Superman! To the rescue! Fly!" Then he runs to the other side of the room, usually does it again, then runs back.

It makes us all laugh!

Robbers on Sundays

Shawn: I know what robbers do on Sunday....they sing bad songs. Like (in a singing voice) "Steal, steal----, steal, steal, steal...

Then Kayla adds singing: "...we have stuff, but we have to get more..."

When will we be bigger?

Shawn: "Mom, when are we gonna be bigger?"

Me: "What do you mean? Like how big?"

Shawn: "Like Mommies and Daddies."

Me: "Not for a really LONG time."

Shawn: "Like 10 minutes? No, 10 minutes is just a long time, not a duper long time!"

The Dogs in Town

Kayla: "Mom, Rylee told me that a big dog came and bit her dog's ear off!"

Me: "Wow, that's too bad."

Kayla: "Yeah, now she will never get married."

Me, trying to teach a life lesson here: "Well, just because we're not perfect doesn't mean we can't have friends and we can't get married. Would you be friends with someone if they lost their ear?"

Kayla, thinking...: "Yes"

Me: "Would you marry someone if they lost their ear?"

Kayla, thinking and now annoyed says: "Moommm, I'm just saying that all the dogs in town will want to come bite her ear off."

Oh, well that makes sense then. ha
