Bathroom Break

Shawn struggles with going to the bathroom when he needs to. Just wants to play and play without breaks. And if he does have little accidents of not making it on time, it's usually when he wants "some privacy" so we can't see that his underwear is a little wet. Well today, I could tell he really needed to go, if he hadn't already started going, so I said, "Shawn, do you need to go potty?"

He said, "No." With the look of total discomfort that he was holding it in.

"Did you already start to go?" I ask somewhat sternly.

"No!" he says, looking down as if to check if I could tell.

"Why don't you go and then we can turn the movie on."

"Oh fine," like he's just being obedient and doesn't really need to go.

Then he starts walking with his legs tightly together like it will come out if he doesn't. And to cover it up he says, "I just want to walk like a penguin." And he continues "walking like a penguin" all the way to the bathroom.

I'm not sure why he would rather hold it until he's in what I can only imagine is pain and discomfort, then take 5 seconds to let it out. Silly guy!

Costume

This morning out of the blue Shawn said with a big sigh, "I really want it to be Costume Day!"

It took me a second but I put it all together... Yesterday Christian brought him home some camoflauge-colored crocs and Shawn said he could wear them with his Peter Pan outfit - I guess it's the green. So I'm thinking he wants it to be Halloween, or "costume day" so he can wear it.

haha

Funny word

We had Cade, a little friend over. We were eating lunch and Shawn had gas...and let it out.
Cade started laughing and said, "you tooted!"
Then Shawn started laughing and said, "I tooted! haha! Toot is a funny pop word!"

(As if "pop" is not a funny toot word! haha)

Scripture Study

We finished our morning scripture reading at breakfast... it was about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis moving into the land of Jershon (pronounced Jer-Shawn by me) which was said quite a few times.

Kayla looked at me and said, "Mommy is their a land called Jer-Kayla?"

Enough!

After dropping Kayla off at preschool Shawn and Tyler and I headed to CVS for some diapers. In the car I had the primary CD playing and "Follow the Prophet" was on. I think it was after the 4th verse Shawn finally said, "Mommy, I'm getting sick-a this!" I started laughing!

It is a long song that starts getting a little repititious, but I never new he'd actually get "sick-a" it! ha

Heaven

I've talked to the kids about not letting Tyler put little things in his mouth and being careful about leaving things on the floor because he could get something stuck in his throat and possibly choke.

Yesterday was the first time he stuck something in his mouth, a little elastic hairtie. I sat sticking my little finger in his mouth trying to reach the thing that I could see but could quite get to come out. The whole time Kayla was going in the back room saying, "I can't watch!" and Shawn would run after her saying the same thing.

Finally, when I knew he had actually swallowed it, I gave up. Kayla came back and said, "Is Tyler going to go to heaven now?"
